SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Brandeis University men's soccer team rallied from a two-goal deficit to even the match in the second half, but Skidmore College scored the game-winning goal in the 66th minute to hand the Judges a 3-2 loss on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Skidmore opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Simon Failla found the back of the net off assists from Colin Goodhines and Matias Sampedro.
• The Thoroughbreds doubled their lead in the 26th minute when Goodhines scored on an assist by Nathan Gritzmacher.
• Brandeis answered in the 39th minute when sophomore Langston Byrd (Austin, Texas/NYC School (N.Y.)) finished a low shot to the right side off a feed from first-year Jack Rossiter (Watertown, Mass./Buckingham, Browne & Nichols), cutting the deficit to 2-1 before halftime.
• The Judges continued their comeback early in the second half. Senior Maddox Yu (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute to level the match at 2-2.
• Skidmore regained the lead in the 66th minute when Goodhines scored his second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Quinn McInerney.
• Brandeis pressed for an equalizer throughout the final 24 minutes. Rossiter forced a save in the 78th minute, while junior Yoav Feingold (Wellesley, Mass./Northfield Mt. Hermon) and senior Aidan Chuang (New York, N.Y./Milton Acad.) each had shots turned aside late in the game.
• The Judges generated three additional shots and two corner kicks in the final 10 minutes, but Skidmore goalkeeper Rowan McLear kept Brandeis off the scoreboard to preserve the 3-2 victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

• Brandeis outshot Skidmore, 13-12, while the Thoroughbreds held a 7-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Judges also earned four corner kicks compared to three for Skidmore.
• First-year goalkeeper Gianni Nrecaj (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) made four saves for Brandeis, while McLear stopped three shots for Skidmore.
• Rossiter led the Judges with three shots, while Feingold and junior Kaden Collins (Farmington, Conn./Loomis Chaffee School) each recorded two.
• Yu and Byrd each scored their first goals of the season, while Rossiter recorded his first assist of the season.
