Fencing places 12 on CSC Academic All-District At-Large teams

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Twelve members of the Brandeis University men's and women's fencing teams have been named to the 2026 Division III Academic All-District At-Large teams, as selected by the College Sports Communicators.

To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, a player must be a sophomore or older in eligibility; have competed in 75 percent of a team's events, or finished among the top competitors in conference or regional play; and carry at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Schools are allowed to nominate a maximum of five members.

Representing the Brandeis men were:
  • Senior saber fencer Lev BenAvram of Bethesda, Maryland, with a 3.75 GPA as a business major;
  • Senior saber fencer Seth Edelman of New York, New York, with a 3.93 GPA as physics major;
  • Junior saber fencer Matthew Chaves of Durham, North Carolina, with a 3.72 GPA as a politics major;
  • Sophomore foil fencer Alex Fortune of Alto, Michigan, with a 3.97 GPA as a double major in mathematics and economics;
  • Sophomore epee fencer Lucas Strauss of Boulder, Colorado, with a 3.63 GPA, major undeclared;
  • And sophomore epee fencer Zichun Wang of Beijing, China, with a 3.62 GPA, major undeclared.
Representing the Brandeis women were:
  • Senior epee fencer Olivia Bennett of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, with a 3.58 GPA as an economics and studio art double major;
  • Senior foil fencer Hannah Du of Winchester, Massachusetts, with a 3.77 GPA as a business major;
  • Senior foil fencer Rhea Menon of Princeton, New Jersey, with a 3.76 GPA as a neuroscience and biology double major;
  • Junior foil fencer Ella Richards of Harvard, Massachusetts, with a 3.97 GPA as a physics and mathematics double major;
  • Junior epee fencer Vera Witte of Ridgewood, New Jersey, with a 3.83 GPA as an anthropology and Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies double major;
  • And senior saber fencer Kat Xikes of Chatham, New Jersey, with a 3.77 GPA as a biology and Health: Science, Society, and Policy double major.
