#21 women's tennis falls to #7 Babson

WALTHAM, Mass. – The 21st-ranked Brandeis women's tennis team dropped a 4-0 decision to #7 Babson today indoors at the Gosman Center in the conclusion of a match started yesterday at Babson but delayed because of the rain.

TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis: 7-5, ranked #21 in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
  • Babson: 7-3, ranked #7 in D3 by the ITA.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The match resumed with doubles, with only a handful of games completed. The Beavers completed wins of 6-3 and 6-2 at #1 and #2 before completing the sweep at #3 with a late break of serve for a 7-5 win.
  • In singles action, Babson also won the top two spots handily, taking #1 by a 6-0, 6-2 score and #2 at 6-2, 6-1.
  • The match wrapped up at #5 in a three-set victory for the visitors. After Brandeis senior Nancy Zhang (Shanghai, China/Shanghai International Division) won the first set, 7-5, the Beavers' Alessandra Cristiana won 12 of the last 13 games, 6-1, 6-0, to secure the win.
