- In the third, junior 1B Brooke Boehmer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) drove in the game's first run with an infield single, and sophomore 3B Jordan Wallace (Howell, N.J./Choate Rosemary Hall) plated the game-winning runs with a double down the left-field line.
- UMD got one back in the fourth, but senior CF Bells Burdenski (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) had a two-run double in the fifth, scoring on a single by classmate RF Maddie Manes (San Clemente, Calif./San Juan Hills) to give Brandeis a 6-1 lead.
- Boehmer scored on a Burdenski sacrifice fly in the seventh to close out the scoring.

- UMD relief pitcher Lily Routhier kept the Judges off the board the rest of the way, allowing the Corsairs to come back.

- The tying run came home in the fifth when a potential inning-ending grounder with the bases loaded was unable to be handled.
