ATLANTA, Ga. – Senior
Anna Ertischek (Montgomery, Texas/Lake Creek) had a match-high 17 kills for the Brandeis University volleyball team today, but the Judges could not overcome 25
th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University in a 3-0 loss today at the first University Athletic Association Round Robin of the season at Emory University. Set scores were 25-15, 25-21, 25-19.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tartans stormed out to a 10-2 lead in the first set and never looked back in taking it 25-15.
- Ertischek was a perfect 5-for-5 in her attacking in the opening set.
- Set two featured six ties and three lead changes. Brandeis got off to a fast 4-0 start, but CMU bounced back to take a 9-7 lead.
- The Judges responded with an 8-3 run to go ahead, 15-11. They were able to maintain their advantage after an Ertischek kill made it 19-17, but CMU closed the set by scoring eight of the final 10 points to earn the 25-21 win.
- Ertischek converted six of her 12 attacks in the set without an error to improve to 11 of 17 on the match.
- The Tartans never trailed in the final set, scoring the first four points and keeping the Judges at bay. CMU led by as many as 10 points at 18-8 before Brandeis made a 9-2 run of their own to climb within 20-17 on the serve of sophomore Alexa Ho (Queens, N.Y./Francis Lewis), but a service error gave control back the Tartans, who took the set, 25-19.
- Ertischek finished with a match-high 17 kills, making just two errors in 34 attacks for a .441 hitting percentage. No other Judge finished with more than four kills, as CMU had four players with either six of seven kills.
- Ertischek also had a team-high 10 digs for her second double-double of the season. Junior Olivia Nirode (Keller, Texas/Keller) and first-year Lara Demoraes (Plantation, Fla./Cypress Bay) each had eight.
- Ho guided the offense with 22 assists and had two service aces.
- First-year Claudia Aber (Los Angeles, Calif./Taft Charter School) had a team-high three blocks (one solo).
