NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The Brandeis University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at the New England Fall Classic today, falling to Bowdoin in three sets and to tournament co-hosts Smith in four sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS. BOWDOIN (22-25, 15-25, 10-25)
- Bowdoin outhit the Judges, .318 to .043, and had 36 kills to Brandeis's 24.
- The Polar Bears also had a 9-3 advantage in service aces and 6-3 in blocks.
- Sophomore Madison Haft-Abromovitch (Stratford, Conn. / Rye Country Day School) led Brandeis with nine kills, while senior Anna Ertischek (Montgomery, Tex. / Lake Creek) had six.
- Sophomore Alexa Ho (Queens, N.Y. / Francis Lewis) had 17 assists, while sophomore Isabella Irizarry (Guaynabo, P.R. / Cupeyville School) led the defense with nine digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS SMITH (13-25, 18-25, 25-20, 12-25)
- The Bears also had an efficiency advantage over the Judges, .350 to .109, with 52 kills to 36.
- Smith added 12 service aces to Brandeis's six and eight blocks to Brandeis's 4.
- Haft-Abromovitch finished with 14 kills, her second-most of the season, behind only 15 against Regis in the season opener. First-year Katya Belyakova (Staten Island, N.Y. / St. Joseph Hill Acad.), who made her season debut against Bowdoin, added six kills. Ertischek had five kills to move her career total to 951.
- Senior Julia Liang (Sugar Land, Tex. / Clements) contributed 29 assists and Irizarry and first-year Lara Demoraes (Plantation, Fla. / Cypress Bay) each had 10 digs.
