WALTHAM, Mass. – Brandeis University men's basketball senior
Toby Harris of
Durham, N.C., has been named an All-American by D3hoops.com, landing on the fourth team.
Harris, was preseason All-America selection by the web site. He was a first-team All-University Athletic Association selection for the Judges for the second time in his career He was a first-team All-Region II honoree by D3hoops.com and earned second-team honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Harris is just the second D3hoops.com All-American in program history, joining
Joe Coppens '08, who was also a fourth-team selection in 2008. He is the ninth athlete to earn All-America honors overall, whether from D3hoops.com, the NABC or the Associate Press, and the first since
Steve DeLuca '08/M'09 in 2009, who earned NABC honors.
Harris was the Judges' leading scorer this season, averaging 18.8 points per game, fourth-most in the UAA this season. His 19.0 points per game in UAA contests was also fourth-best. Harris scored in double digits in all but two games this season, including 10 20-point games. He scored 28 in a game twice, non-conference contests against Rhode Island College and Middlebury, and had 27 in an 86-79 win over Washington University.
Harris's 65 3-pointers were the second-most in the league and 75th in Division III, while his 40.4% 3-point percentage was highest among qualifying players and 30th among all Division III players. His 48.5% field goal percentage was second on the Judges and fifth in the conference, while his 84.7% free-throw percentage was fourth overall.
Harris also finished second on the team in rebounding, averaging 5.5 boards per game, 13th-best in the league. He also had 45 assists, 16 steals and eight blocked shots.
Harris ends his Brandeis career with 1,132 points, becoming the 36th player in school history to reach the milestone and finishing 22nd on the all-time list despite missing much of his junior season to injury. His 15.2 points-per-game average is 15th all-time among players who have played in at least 50 games for the Judges. His 173 3-pointers are eighth all-time, while his 40.8% 3-point percentage is ninth and his 82.5% free-throw percentage ranks seventh.
Harris is a 2021 graduate of Durham Academy.
