#27 women edged by #23 Bowdoin, 5-2

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The #27 Brandeis University women's tennis team went on the road but served as the host team today against #23 Bowdoin College. The Judges tested the Polar Bears, extending several matches to third sets before falling, 5-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Polar Bears won, 6-0, at #2 and 6-2, at #3, to clinch the doubles point, but Brandeis's Bhakti Parwani (Ahmedabad, India/Kumkum School) and Rebecca Suarez (New York, N.Y./International Virtual Learning Academy) edged their opponents, 6-4, at the top spot.
  • Bowdoin got off to a quick start in doubles action, with straight-set wins at #4 and #6 to take a 3-0 lead.
  • The Judges extended the final four matches to three sets, but the Polar Bears were able to win those third sets at #2 and #3 to secure the victory.
  • Senior Anastasia Sia (Thessaloniki, Greece/Anatolia College) got the Judges on the board at #5, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, and Suarez came back from a first-set tiebreaker loss to win, 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 6-3.
