Men's tennis edged by #19 Redlands, 4-3

REDLANDS, California – The Brandeis University men's tennis team dropped a narrow 4-3 decision on Tuesday evening against 19th-ranked University of Redlands.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Judges won the doubles point for the first time this season. After the Bulldogs won at #3, 6-2, Brandeis won a pair of marathon matches. Sophomores Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla. Gulliver Prep) and Huasen Dong (Richmond Hill, Ont./Richmond Green Second School) picked up a 7-5 win at #2, while grad student Dylan Walsh (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) and first-year Daniel Shemesh (Modiin, Israel/Ironi Hey Modiin) clinched the point with a 7-6 win.
  • Redlands got on the board with the first singles point at #3, while Wang-Fan won at #4 singles, 6-2, 6-4, to give the Judges a 2-1 lead.
  • The Bulldogs went back on top, 3-2, after wins at #6 and #1. A 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 win for UR at #5 clinched the match before Shemesh picked up a three-set win at #2, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

  • The Judges return to action on Friday afternoon at Occidental College at 5:30 pm Eastern/2:30 Pacific, as they wrap up their California trip.
