ATLANTA, Ga. – The Brandeis University swimming and diving team had three individual scoring performances today, as well as four scoring relays, as the Judges concluded their 2024-25 season at the University Athletic Association championships. Both the men and women finished with 322 points to finish in 8
th place. The Emory men and women each defended their team titles.
INDIVIDUAL SCORERS
- Junior Sam Bundy (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) turned in the men's top finish for the second day in a row. He placed 18th in the 1,650-yard freestyle, the team's top overall placement of the meet among individuals. He improved his career-best time to 16:32.94, fourth in program history. Bundy finished six seconds behind 17th place and five ahead of 19th.
- Also scoring for the men was senior Tal Spector (Phoenix, Ariz./Herberger Young Scholars Academy) in his final career competition. Spector finished in 24th place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:57.29.
- On the women's side, the lone scoring event came from senior Anastasia Bekou (Limassol, Cyprus/Laniteio Lyceum) in the 200-yard backstroke. She finished 24th with a time of 2:09.32, lowering her personal best by three seconds. The time was fourth fastest in school history.
TOP RELAYS
- The women's 400-yard free relay team of senior Chloe Gonzalez (Miami Beach, Fla./Miami Beach), Bekou, junior Audrey Teo (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), and junior Jenna Wild (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) came in eighth with a time of 3:42.77.
- The men's 400 free relay quartet of junior Eric Xiao (College Station, Texas/AM Consolidated), junior Benjamin Lee (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional), junior Solomon Skelton-Harris (Golden Valley, Minn./Robbinsdale Armstrong), and first-year Peter Mou (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brimmer and May School) also took eighth with a time of 3:07.31. They were just 0.23 seconds out of school-record time.
OTHER TOP PERFORMANCES
- Gonzalez just missed out on another scoring performance in the 100 free, coming in 26th and missing the finals by 0.13 seconds with a time of 53.33 seconds.
- First-year Sophia He (Sugar Land, Texas/Elying) finished one spot out of the finals in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:28.54 in 25th.
