Swimmers qualify six for finals on Day 3 at UAAs

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Brandeis University swimming and diving teams had their best day so far at the 2025 University Athletic Association Championships at Emory University, sending six swimmers to the final session. The Judges were in eighth place with 255 points on the women's side and 248 on the men's.

INDIVIDUAL SCORERS
  • Senior Chloe Gonzalez (Miami Beach, Fla./Miami Beach) continued her fine meet, posting the team's top finish with a 19th-place showing in the 100-yard butterfly. Her time of 57.78 seconds was the second-fastest in program history, about a second out of a school record. She missed winning the 'C' final by 0.24 seconds.
  • Senior Anastasia Bekou (Limassol, Cyprus/Laniteio Lyceum) also placed in the top 20, coming in 20th in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 58.36 seconds. She shaved just a shade under a half a second off her previous career-best, ranking her third in school history.
  • The men's top performance came in the 400-yard individual medley, where they put two swimmers into the 'C' Final. Junior Sam Bundy (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) placed 22nd with a time of 4:15.25, while classmate AJ Martinez (North Miami Beach, Fla./NSU University School) was 24th with a time of 4:25.16.
  • Coming in 24th in a couple of events for the women were juniors Rebecca Kaplan (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary School) and Audrey Teo (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto). Kaplan scored in the 400 IM with a time of 4:54.12, while Teo had a time of 1:10.79 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
RELAY PERFORMANCES
  • The women's team of Bekou, Kaplan, senior Eva Parson (Milford, Mass./Milford) Teo finished eighth in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:53.46, seven seconds off a school record.
  • The men's 200 medley relay quartet of sophomore Riley Pasicaran (Kennewick, Wash./Hanford), junior Benjamin Lee (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional), junior Eric Xiao (College Station, Texas/AM Consolidated) and first-year Peter Mou (Chestnut Hill, Mass./Brimmer and May School) were in eighth place in their race with a time of 1:35.78, just over three seconds off the school mark.

  • The Judges will close out their 2024-25 season tomorrow on the final day of the UAA Championships at Emory.
