ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Brandeis University men's basketball team had a tough offensive night to kick off their annual University Athletic Association trip to the Midwest, falling to #6-ranked Washington University, 83-58, tonight.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges never led in the one. WashU jumped out to an 8-0 lead as Brandeis missed their first seven shots of the game.
- Brandeis battled back to within one point at 12-11 on a 3-pointer by first-year Alex Zakheim (Bergenfield, N.J./Perkiomen, Pa.). The Bears scored a bucket that Judge junior Ethan Edwards , (Brooklyn, N.Y./Woodstock Acad.) answered to make it 14-13 with 12:02 on the clock.
- WashU then 11 points of the game, including three straight 3-pointers, to take their first double-digit lead at 25-13 just under three minutes later.
- Brandeis would get within six points in the first half, but WashU led by as many as 15 before taking a 42-28 lead into the locker room.
- The Judges were unable to get the deficit under double digits in the second half, as WashU pulled away for the 25-point lead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Judges, who entered the game leading Division III in overall field-goal percentage (51.2%) and 3-point percentage (42.6%) were held to their second-lowest shooting game of the season at 38.3% (23-60) and by far their worst 3-point performance at 16.7% (4-24).
- Brandeis made just 4-of-18 from downtown in the first half, and the Judges went 0-for-6 in the second.
- Meanwhile, WashU, hit 49.2% for the game (31-63) and 48.1% from 3-point range (13-27).
- The Bears also had a 39-29 rebounding edge.
- Offensively, Brandeis was led by senior Toby Harris (Durham, N.C./Durham Acad.) and junior Elias Rodl (Berlin, Germany/Schulund Leistungssportzentrum Berlin) each scored 12 points. The pair were limited to 9-for-29 from the field and 2-for-11 from 3-point range for the game.
- Rodl led the team with seven rebounds, while Harris had six.
- The Judges were also held to a season-low three assists.
- WashU had four players reached double digits in the game. Connor May led all players with 18 points, while Hayden Doyle had 15 – all on 3-pointers. Drake Kindsvater added 13 points and a game-high five assists. Yogi Oliff had 10 points off the bench.
- Four different Bears tied for team-high honors with five rebounds each.
