WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's basketball team had a pair of 20-point performances tonight as the Judges defeated the visiting University of Rochester Yellowjackets, 84-54, in a University Athletic Association contest, providing the biggest win for Brandeis in the matchup's history.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges controlled just about every aspect of the contest, going on an 8-0 run after the visitors scored the game's opening basket and never trailing again.
- An 11-0 run midway through the first half put the hosts ahead 25-6 when junior Elias Rodl (Berlin, Germany/Schulund Leistungssportzentrum Berlin) dunked on an assist by first-year Alex Zakheim (Bergenfield, N.J./Perkiomen, Pa.).
- The Judges extended the lead to 51-27 at halftime, as senior Toby Harris (Durham, N.C./Durham Acad.) netted 18 of his 20 points. Harris hit 5-of-9 overall, including all four of his 3-pointers, and 4-of-4 from the line.
- Brandeis shot 52.9% from the field (18-34) and 52.6% from deep (10-19) in the first, while holding UR to 30.6% (11-36) in total and 28.6% from beyond the arc (4-14).
- The Judges kept the offensive pressure in the second half, extending their lead as large as 40 points at 74-34 after a free throw by graduate student David Perez-Miralles (Miami, Fla./Riviera Prep) with 11:14 left in the game before the Rochester reserves cut into the Brandeis lead for the 30-point final, exceeding the 21-point win Brandeis had over the Yellowjackets in 2020.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Harris and Rodl tied for game-high scoring honors with 20 points. Harris scored 18 of his in the first half, while Rodl netted 13 of his 20 in the second. The duo combined to shoot 13-of-22 overall, 8-of-12 from 3-point range and 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
- The Judges finished with 22 assists on their 30 baskets, paced by grad student Sam Adusei (Worcester, Mass./St. George's School) with four and three other players with three each.
- Brandeis also outrebounded UR, 49-41, with junior Matthew Cadogan (Weston, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) with six.
- Grad student Aedan Using (Old Lyme, Conn./Old Lyme) continued his fine all-around play with eight points, five rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots.
- The Judges ended up outshooting UR, 46.9% to 26.6%, including 45.5% to 17.9% from 3-point range.
- Rochester was led by Logan Jagodzinski with 13 points and Theo Murray with eight, but no other Yellowjacket had more than six.
- Tomiwa Adetosoye led the visitors with six rebounds, while Ethan McEachern had three assists.
