SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Brandeis University volleyball team got a record-setting performance from junior outside hitter
Anna Ertischek (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery) tonight as the Judges opened their weekend at the Skidmore Invitational with a three-set win over the host Thoroughbreds. Set scores were 25-6, 26-24, 25-12.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ertischek set Brandeis's single-match record for hitting percentage with at least 15 attempts, delivering a match-high 12 kills without an error in 16 attempts to finish at .750 for the match. Her figure surpassed Liz Hood '14's record of .720 (18 K-0 E-25 TA) set in 2011.
- Senior Lara Verstovsek (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) added nine kills and first-year Kennedy Lilly (Eagle's Landing Christian Academy) had eight.
- Verstovsek led the defense as well with nine digs. Classmate Tatiana Wainer (Miami, Fla./Schech Hillel Community) topped the net game with a season-high six blocks (one solo). She was involved in all but one of the team's net points as Brandeis outscored Skidmore, 7-3.
- Brandeis also won the serving game, 8-3. Sophomore Olivia Nirode (Keller, Texas/Keller) and first-year Isabella Irizarry (Guaynabo, P.R./Cupeyville School) had three aces each.
- First-year setters Samantha Lin (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo-Atherton) and Alexa Ho (Queens, N.Y./Frances Lewis) split duties quarterbacking the team, finishing with 15 and 13 assists, respectively.
- The Judges rolled past Skidmore in the first set, winning 25-6.
- The Thoroughbreds rallied and led by as many as six points early in the second, but Brandeis finished strong and took the set, 26-24, on a service ace by Lin.
- Brandeis finished strong by doubling up the home team, 25-12, in the final set.
- Also notable in this match was Brandeis sophomore defensive specialist Ava Ferrigno (Boca Raton, Fla./Boca Raton Community) facing her twin sister Anna, who plays for Skidmore.
