HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Carnegie Mellon came out hot in the first set, scoring 11 of the first 12 points, five coming on Brandeis attack errors.

  • Brandeis responded with a 9-4 run of their own to knot things at 19-all. The teams traded the next two points to get to 20-all, but CMU closed things out with five of the last six points to earn the win.
  • The Judges had another fast start in the third set, going ahead, 6-0. They eventually led 10-3 and 11-5 and were still ahead at 16-14. The Tartans scored the next three points and went on to win the set and the match, with an 11-3 run.
  • Despite Brandeis finishing with two more kills (38-26), one more dig (50-49), and an equal number of blocks (5-5) compared with CMU, the difference came in service and errors.
