Men's tennis falls to #18 Mary Washington, 6-3

Waltham, Mass. – The Judges suffered a defeat to #18 Mary Washington by a score of 6-3 on Friday.

Team Records:
University of Mary Washington: 12-4, 18th in Division III
Brandeis University: 1-11

How it went down:
The match started off with a 1-point advantage towards the Mary Washington Eagles as the Judges were forced to forfeit #3 doubles by default.

Match #1 doubles saw Brandeis losing by a score of 8-5 to the Eagles to give them an early 2-0 advantage.

Match #2 went to the Judges, as first-years Harrison Huai (Irvine, Calif./Northwood) and Huasen Dong (Richmond Hill, Ont./ Richmond Green Second School) picked up an 8-4 win to cut the lead to 2-1 overall.

Singles started off with another forfeit point for the Eagles in match #6 to give them a 3-1 advantage.

#1 singles went to Brandeis senior Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) by a score of 6-4, 6-1, to shrink the deficit down to 3-2 before first-year Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep) tied the contest up at #2 by a score of 7-5, 6-3.

The rest of the match was all Eagles, as they claimed matches #3, #5, and #4 consecutively to win overall 6-3 on the day.

The Judges travel close by to Wellesley, Mass. to take on rivals Babson at 11 am tomorrow.
