Basye wins, but men's tennis falls at Babson, 7-2

BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 defeat at the hands of #32-ranked Babson College today at Babson.

TEAM RECORDS
  • Brandeis: 1-12.
  • Babson: 8-8, ranked #32 in Division III by Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Judges started the match down two points thanks to their limited roster.
  • The teams split doubles points, with Brandeis senior Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) and first-year Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep)  taking an 8-3 win at #1, while Babson's Jonah Wilson and Ole Lepsoe winning, 8-5, at #2.
  • The Beavers claimed four of the five singles matches contested, with only senior Aaron Basye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Tesoro) winning his match for the Judges, 6-3, 6-1, at #4.
  • Walters was edged at #1, 5-7, 6-7, while first-year Huasen Dong (Richmond Hill, Ont./Richmond Green Second School) fell in the only three-setter, 2-6, 6-1, 2-6.
UP NEXT
  • Brandeis will close out the regular season next Saturday at Tufts University at 3 p.m.
