NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Brandeis University women's basketball team dropped its 2024 University Athletic Association (UAA) opener today, falling to the top-ranked team in Division III, NYU, by a score of 103-52.
TEAM RECORDS
- Brandeis: 4-8, 0-1 UAA.
- NYU: 11-0, 1-0 UAA, ranked #1 in Division III by D3hoops.com and the WBCA.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges took a brief 3-2 lead after a 3-pointer by junior Lulu Ohm (Waltham, Mass./Waltham), but the Violets scored 18 of the game's next 20 points and never looked back.
- NYU established leads of 37-14 after one quarter and 63-21 at the half en route to earning the largest win in the series history.
- The Violets outshot Brandeis, 56 percent (42-75) to 27 percent (17-63), overall and 58 percent (7-12) to 30 percent (6-20) from 3-point range. They also outscored Brandeis, 32-17, in points off turnovers.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brandeis had one player score in double figures, as junior Caitlin Gresko (Howell, N.J./Howell) netted 11 points in her second game back from injury. Ohm added nine points.
- Sophomore Brooke Reed (Chantilly, Va./Westfield) pulled down 10 rebounds, her third career game in double figures on the boards.
- Ohm led the Judges with three assists.
- NYU saw 15 different players score points. Natalie Bruns led the way with 22 points and nine rebounds, while Morgan Morrison reached a double-double with 19 points and 10 boards.
- Bruns also had five assists, four steals and three blocked shots.
- NYU's Meghan Baumann just missed another double-double for the hosts, finishing with nine points and nine assists.

- The Judges continue a three-game road trip to start the UAA season next Friday evening at Carnegie Mellon at 5:30 p.m. NYU is at Case Western Reserve at the same time.
