WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University volleyball team suffered a 3-1 defeat tonight at the hands of visiting Simmons College in a non-conference match in Red Auerbach Arena. Set scores were 25-20, 25-13, 18-25, 25-14.

- Brandeis: 4-3.
- Simmons: 4-6.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Simmons won two of their three sets by significant margins as the Brandeis attack hit in the negatives in the second set, won by the Sharks, 25-13, and just broke even in the fourth, which the visitors took, 25-14.
- The Sharks had the edge in just about every statistical category: kills (42-37), hitting percentage (.287-.095), services aces (9-7), blocks (5-3), assists (39-35) and digs (54-50).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Brandeis sophomore Anna Ertischek (Montgomery, Texas/Lake Creek) led the Judges with 14 kills, while junior Lara Verstovsek (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) added 11, but no other Brandeis player had more than three.
- Senior setter Ines Grom-Mansencal (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wyoming) dished out 17 assists, while rookie libero Olivia Nirode (Keller, Texas/Keller) had 11 digs.
- Simmons was 1-29 all-time against Brandeis, with their only previous win in the series coming in 1981.
- Brandeis head coach Alesia Bennett coached the Sharks for three years prior to coming to the Judges in 2014.
