WALTHAM, Mass. – For the second time in her career, Brandeis University junior outside hitter Lara Verstovsek of Houston, Texas, has been named to the All-University Athletic Association Volleyball Team as a member of the second team.

Verstovsek, who earned the honor as a first-year and was an honorable mention as a sophomore, is the first Judge to earn multiple All-UAA honors since Emma Bartlett '20 in 2018 and 2019 and only the second since 2010.

Verstovsek led the UAA in kills and points per set through the end of the regular season, averaging 3.93 kills and 4.47 points per set. She was second in total kills with 389 and total points with 442.5. In conference-only matches, she was second in kills (3.57) and points (3.86). Her overall kills per set is the second-highest average for a season in school history, while her points per set ranks fourth in school history.

Verstovsek also finished second on the Judges in digs this season with a career-best 239 and in digs average at 2.41 per set. She recorded 11 double-doubles this season, including a career-high 16 digs on two occasions.

Verstovsek had double-digits in kills in 21 of the team's 29 matches, including 22 in a 3-0  win over Roger Williams on Sept. 29, setting a new school record for kills in a three-set match.  Her overall season-high this year was 25 kills, a career-best, which she recorded in three-set losses to Smith and Wellesley in non-conference matches.

Verstovsek will enter her senior season with 918 career kills as she looks to become the 10^th player in school history to reach 1000 for her career. Her career average of 3.30 kills per set ranks fourth in school history, while 3.91 career points per set rates third.

The Brandeis volleyball team posted a 10-18 record in head coach Alesia Bennett's ninth season at the helm. They return four starters to their lineup for the 2024 season, including Verstovsek.
