WALTHAM, Mass. – The Brandeis University volleyball
team won 3-1 in their season opener against the visiting Babson
College Beavers, in Auerbach Arena, despite a slow start.
Brandeis (1-0) defeated Babson (0-1) in three straight sets after a
close loss in the first set. Both teams battled
start-of-the-season nerves in the first set, but the Judges settled
into a confident pattern to sweep their opponent in straight
sets.
Seniors and outside hitter Paige Blasco
(Greenly, Colo.) lead the Judges with 16 kills in 39 attempts for a
.359 hitting percentage. Blasco was aggressive with 13 digs
and three block assists. Senior middle blocker Nicole
Smith (Marietta, Ga.) had 14 kills in 24 attempts for
.542 hitting percentage. Sophomore outside hitter Susan Sun
(Acton, Mass.) led the team this with 16 digs. Freshman

Einhorn (Cherry Hill, N.J.) had 24 assists in her
first game with he Judges.
