WALTHAM, Mass. –  Senior Lulu Ohm of Waltham, Massachusetts, and first-year Elias Rodl of Berlin, Germany, of the women’s and men’s basketball teams have been named the Brandeis University Athletes of the Week for the week ending  December 1. The Brandeis Athlete of the Week program is presented by The Chateau Restaurant and Jake N Joes Bar and Grill.

Ohm scored 14 points and had three assists in a November 26 loss to Babson, 63-52. She bounced back after Thanksgiving break to help the Judges defeat MIT, 67-59, on December 3. In that game, Ohm scored 30 points and helped Brandeis keep the Engineers without a field goal for a 10-minute span over the second and third quarters. Her 30 points came on 9-of-22 from the field, 1-of-4 from 3-point range and 11-for-14 from the free-throw line, making her the fourth Judge in school history with multiple 30-point games in a season, and the first since Director of Athletics Jessica Chapin ’10 did it in 2009-10. Ohm also contributed six rebounds, two assists and a steal.

For the season, Ohm is averaging 22.9 points per game. She leads the University Athletic Association and is ranked 11th in Division III in scoring, while her 183 points are seventh-most among all Division III players.

In head coach Julie Prichett’s first season, the 4-4 Judges return to action on Tuesday evening, December 10th, at Bridgewater State University at 7 p.m. The last three meetings between the two teams have all been decided by one point.

Rodl scored 11 points and had a team-high six rebounds in the Judges’ first loss of the season, a 77-63 defeat at the hands of Babson College on December 1. Three nights later on December 4, he bounced back and helped the Judges to defeat  Framingham State University, 112-64, in record-setting fashion. Rodl scored a game-high 27 points – his first time leading the Judges in scoring – including 6-for-8 from 3-point range. As a team, the Judges hit a school-record 25 3-pointers against the Rams, tied for the most in a game in Division III this season. It was Rodl’s second career game with 20 or more points, and it came in just 21 minutes of action.

For the season, Rodl is averaging 14.9 points per game, second-most on the team behind senior Toby Harris, a preseason All-American. He is 12th in the UAA in scoring and leads the league in field goal percentage at .684 (39-57), fifth best in Division III this season. Rodl, Harris and the Judges lead Division III in 3-point percentage (46.5%), rank second in 3-pointers per game (14.3), third in assists per game (22.3) and fifth in overall field goal percentage (52.0%).

The Judges, 6-1 under head coach Jean Bain, return to action this weekend with the UAA Winter Challenge at Tufts University. They will meet Bates College on Saturday at 4 p.m. and #16-ranked Tufts on Sunday at 4:30 p.m.
