Malvern, Pennsylvania, and the men’s soccer team have been named the Brandeis University Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 13. The Brandeis Athlete of the Week program is presented by The Chateau Restaurant and Jake N Joes Bar and Grill.
Jackson helped the Brandeis volleyball team go a very competitive 1-2 last week. The Judges pulled out a 3-2 win over Tufts University with nine kills and no errors in 17 attacks for a .529 hitting percentage. The win was Brandeis’s first over the Jumbos since 2002. Against a pair of nationally-ranked University Athletic Association foes, Jackson had seven kills and three blocks (two solo) in a 3-1 loss to 8
th-ranked Washington University, and seven kills and three blocks (one solo) in a 3-2 loss to 14
th-ranked Case Western Reserve. The Judges and Spartans were tied at 11-all in the decisive fifth set before CWRU went on a 4-0 run to clinch the match. Overall last week, Jackson averaged 1.64 kills and 1.96 points per set, both third-most on the team.
For the season, Jackson is averaging 1.26 kills per set, fourth-most on the team, and 0.44 blocks per set, also fourth on the squad.
Brandeis returns to action on Wednesday evening with a non-conference match at UMass Boston at 6 p.m. in their only match of the week.
Wrabley was previously named the University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week in men’s soccer. He helped the Judges improve to 6-3-2 on the season with a pair of stellar performances in goal. In a 4-1 win over MIT on October 8th, he made six saves while allowing his only goal of the week. On October 11th, in Brandeis’s UAA home opener, Wrabley made eight saves as the Judges defeated Washington University, 1-0. The win was Brandeis’s third in a row over the Bears, the longest streak in program history, and gave the Judges a share of the UAA lead with Emory at 2-0.
Wrabley has played all 990 minutes in goal for the Judges this season, posting a 1.09 goals-against average with 48 saves, an .800 save percentage and three shutouts. He leads the UAA in total saves and saves per game (4.36) and ranks second in save percentage, tied for second in shutouts and fourth in GAA.
The Judges continue UAA play at the University of Chicago on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. (1:30 Central).

The Athlete of the Year Program highlights a top Brandeis student-athlete who has had an outstanding athletic achievement from the week prior.
