WALTHAM, Mass. -- Seniors Amaya Logan of Jacksonville, Florida, and Huasen Dong of Richmond Hills, Ontario, members of the women’s soccer and men’s tennis teams, have been named Brandeis University Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 11. The Brandeis Athlete of the Week program is presented by The Chateau Restaurant and Jake n JOES Sports Grille.

Logan, who was also named the University Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week, helped the Judges to a 1-1 week in goal. Logan earned her sixth shutout of the season and the 10th of her career in a 2-0 win over Lesley University without facing a shot on goal on October 6. On October 9 at Emory, Logan set a career-high with 12 saves in a 2-0 loss. It was the most saves in a game by a Brandeis goalkeeper since 2017 and the first double-digit contest since 2024.

Logan led the UAA with 51 saves this season and 5.10 saves per game. She has since posted another shutout with five saves in a 2-0 win over Bridgewater State University on Tuesday evening.

Logan and the Judges (7-4-1, 0-2-0 UAA) return to action on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against the University of Rochester at home on Gordon Field.

Dong and the Brandeis men’s tennis team had an outstanding performance at the Bates College Wallach Invitational. Facing opponents from host Bates, Colby College and Trinity College, Dong went 6-0, 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles. Dong did not lose more than four games in a set, and that only once. He won matches 6-3, 6-1, over Colby and Trinity and 6-4, 6-1, against a foe from Bates. In doubles action, he teamed with junior Daniel Shemesh for wins of 6-2, 6-3, and 6-2, against opponents from Colby, Trinity and Bates, respectively.

Overall this fall, Dong went 13-4 in singles and doubles play across three tournaments. He and the Judges are done for the fall and will return to action next semester for their primary season.

This is the 11th year that the Brandeis Athlete of the Week program has been presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group. The Athlete of the Year Program highlights top Brandeis student-athletes who have had an outstanding athletic achievement in the week prior.  Each selected student-athlete will be featured on the Brandeis athletics homepage and inside the Chateau Waltham and Jake n JOES.

Owned and operated by the Nocera Family, the Chateau Restaurant of Waltham opened in 1933 and set the standard for providing the tradition of Italian family dining, friendly service, and quality food at reasonable prices for its customers. Located on 195 School Street, with 900 seats, the Chateau is always ready to accommodate large parties.

The Nocera Family consists of 6 brothers who have always had a passion for playing sports. In 2010, the Nocera Family launched a new concept, Jake n JOES Sports Grille. Jake n JOES Waltham opened in 2014 and is the best place to watch a game and enjoy quality food.

"Brandeis student-athletes are fantastic role models in our community,” says Chateau President Joe Nocera, “They exemplify the ideals of excellence and commitment both on and off the playing field. The Chateau Waltham and Jake n JOES Waltham are proud to partner with Brandeis Athletics to continue to enhance a positive focus within the Waltham Community."
