WALTHAM, Mass. -- Seniors Sadie Harrow of
Bangor, Maine, and
Hugh Licklider of
Newton, Massachusetts, members of the women’s and men’s cross country teams, have been named the first Brandeis University Athletes of the Week of the 2026-27 campaign, for the week ending September 6. The Brandeis Athlete of the Week program is presented by The Chateau Restaurant and Jake n JOES Sports Grille.
Competing at the Bates Regional Preview in South Portland, Maine, Harrow and Licklider each won their respective races, helping the Brandeis women place second and the men earn the top spot.
Harrow ran a 3340-meter course, roughly half the length of the women’s typical 6-kilometer competitions. Running in her home state, Harrow crossed the line in 12:10.65, 20 second ahead of sophomore Rhiannon Vos. All seven Brandeis finished in the top half of the field as the Judges finished with 68 points, trailing only Bowdoin College.
Licklider and the men ran 4,340 meters instead of their usual eight kilometers. He posted a 13:21.76, for a 4:57 average mile pace, defeating first-year teammate Owen Powers by two seconds. The Judges put all five of their scorers among the top 10 finishers to win the race with 22 points over host Bates.
Harrow, Licklider, and the Brandeis cross country teams return to action on September 19th with the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
This is the 11th year that the Brandeis Athlete of the Week program has been presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group.
