WALTHAM, Mass. -- Sophomores Sarai Sealy of New York, New York, and Eli Wawersik of Westborough, Massachusetts, members of the men’s and women’s track and field teams, have been named the Brandeis University Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 15. The Brandeis Athlete of the Week program is presented by The Chateau Restaurant and Jake n JOES Sports Grille.

In her first meet competing in the triple jump this season, Sealy launched into 15th place in the national standings with a distance of 11.51 meters (37-9 ¼). Sealy was sixth overall at the BU David Hemery Valentines Invitational and topped Division III competitors. Sealy's top jump came on her fourth attempt of the day. Sealy finished fifth at the 2025 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships both indoors and outdoors last year.

On the men's side, competing at Tufts, Wawersik set a career-best in the heptathlon with a mark of 4475 points. His mark was converted to 4499 because of the track size, ranking 39th in Division III this season. Wawersik placed fourth out of 13 competitors at Tufts behind two competitors from the host school and one from Roger Williams. Wawersik had three personal-bests during the meet, finishing second in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 2.49.33; fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.35 seconds and ninth in the shot put with a heave of 10.40 meters (34-1 ½). Wawersik also placed fourth among the 13 competitors in the 60-meter hurdles (8.99 seconds) and fifth in the long jump (6.26 meters, 20-6 ½).

The Brandeis track and field teams compete this weekend at the Pre-Postseason Invitational at Wheaton College before hosting the 2026 University Athletic Association Indoor Championships on Feb. 28 and March 1.

This is the tenth year that the Brandeis Athlete of the Week program has been presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group.
