Vince Johnson joined the Brandeis University women’s basketball staff as a volunteer assistant coach in the summer of 2026.

Johnson came to Brandeis after more than a decade as the head girls’ basketball coach at Beaver Country Day School. He earned three Eastern Independent League Coach of the Year honors in 2020, 2022, and 2024, while guiding the Beavers to six conference championships in a span of seven years between 2018 and 2024. His 2020 squad won the New England Private School Athletic Conference Class C title and the 2018 team were Class C finalists and the 2023 team were the runners-up in Class B. Three straight Beavers were named EIL Players of the Year, with two of them playing at the Division I level.
Johnson also served as the boys’ JV coach at Beaver from 2013 to 2015.

Johnson owns and operates a pair of basketball schools, VJ Hoops Academy in Waltham and The Hoops Lab in Holliston. He also runs the New England Panthers BK AAU team based in Waltham that has sent players to a number of Division III institutions.

Johnson is a 2006 graduate of Lasell University with a B.S. in Business Administration. He was a member of the Lasers’ 2001 Hall of Fame men’s basketball team that earned Lasell’s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth, averaging 13.9 points per game with 52 3-pointers that season.
