Campbell to serve as Brandeis's first varsity head coach of women's lacrosse

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Annie Campbell will serve as the first varsity head coach of the Brandeis University women's lacrosse team, director of athletics Jessica Chapin '10 announced today.

"We are thrilled to welcome Annie Campbell as the inaugural head coach of women's lacrosse at Brandeis," Chapin said. "Annie brings a proven record of developing student-athletes both on and off the field. Her energy, vision, and commitment to excellence make her the perfect leader to establish this program and set the foundation for lasting success. We are excited for the future of Brandeis lacrosse under her leadership."

Campbell will be taking the reins of the first new varsity sport at Brandeis since 1980. Brandeis women's lacrosse will begin competition in the spring of 2027, but Campbell will join the Judges' staff this month to begin recruitment of her first team.

"The opportunity to build a program from the ground up and establish a foundation that future student-athletes will be proud to join and compete for is truly exciting," Campbell said. "I am grateful to Director Chapin and the department for their trust and support as we begin this new chapter."
A 2013 graduate of Mount Holyoke College, where she played goalie on the field hockey team, Campbell has served as head coach of lacrosse at her alma mater since 2022. While on the Lyons' staff, she expanded the team's roster by more than 60 percent over her two seasons and significantly increased their fundraising efforts.

Campbell spent the Spring 2022 campaign as an assistant coach at Bates College and served as the head coach at Curry College from 2019 to 2021, earning the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament berth in seven years in 2020. She was the head coach at Newbury College in 2018.

In addition to her B.A. in political science from Mount Holyoke in 2013, Campbell earned master's degrees in Sport Management and in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology from the University of Florida in 2021.

Women's lacrosse at Brandeis will be the Judges' 20th varsity sport. Brandeis was named an associate member of the NEWMAC in the sport last week.
