ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Brandeis University men's tennis team earned a victory in their final dual match of the season, as the #33-ranked Judges defeated the University of Rochester, 4-0, in the seventh-place match at the 2025 University Athletic Association tournament in Florida today.

- Brandeis, 9-8, ranked #33 in Division III by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Judges edged the Yellowjackets for the doubles point. After sophomore Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep) and first-year Aidan Wang-Fan (Richmond Hill, Ont./Bill Crothers Secondary School) won, 6-3, at #2, UR won by the same score at #3.
- At the top spot, Brandeis grad student Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) and first-year Daniel Shemesh (Modiin, Israel/Ironi Hey Modiin) were extended to a tiebreaker, but outlasted the UR pair of Krish Vennam and Ethan Samora, 7-6 (7-2).
- In singles play, Wang-Fan won his first set, 6-1, before his opponent retired to make it 2-0.
- First-year Benjamin Kotzen (Austin, Texas/Austin Tennis Academy College Prep) defeated Samora, 6-1, 6-2, for the third point.
- Garbett clinched the victory at #3 with a 6-3, 6-2 win.
- Walters and Shemesh each won their first sets before having their matches end.
UP NEXT
- The Judges' regular season is complete. They will see if Walters can make a second-straight NCAA singles tournament or if he and Shemesh can gain entry into the doubles tournament.
