SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Brandeis University dropped a close match to host Skidmore College today, 6-3, dropping two points due to being shorthanded.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brandeis started off decent in doubles, winning #1 doubles by a score of 8-5 by the efforts of senior
Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md./Gilman School) and first-year
Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla./ Gulliver Prep). #2 doubles didn't go in Brandeis favor as Skidmore took an 8-7 (8-6) decision, while #3 doubles resulted in a point for Skidmore due to forfeit.
Singles were even, but favored Skidmore by a point total of 4-2, including another Brandeis forfeit in #6 singles.
Brandeis' two points were by Walters and Garbett again. In #1 singles, Walters beat Yuval Goodman by a score of 7-5, 6-3. In #3 singles, Pierce beat Nika Mori by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
The Thoroughbreds prevailed in a pair of three-set matches. Senior
Aaron Basye (Mission Viejo, Calif./Tesoro) fell at #4, 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 0-6, while first-year
Harrison Huai (Irvine, Calif./Northwood) suffered a 6-1, 2-6, 9-11 defeat in a third-set super-tiebreaker at #5.
