NEW GLOUCESTER, ME – The Judges ventured up to Maine today for the Bates Invitational at Pineland Farms. The women saw 3 top 20 finishers who went home with chocolate milk and a block of Pineland Farm's cheese. The men placed 7th out of 10 teams, with 218 points, behind Colby College and just 2 points ahead of Maine-Farmington. The women finished in 4th place with a score of 77, only 5 points behind Colby College. They finished ahead of U. of New England.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Coming in 1st for Brandeis and 7th overall, junior Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa. / Conestoga) ran 23:19.8, also giving her a 13 second PR.
• Senior captain Zada Forde (Amherst, Mass / Amherst) ran 23:29.8 for 11th place. Just behind in 12th place came senior Anna Batelli (Oak Ridge, N.J. / Jefferson Township) with her time of 23:36.5, giving her a 6 second 6K PR.
• Sophomore Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine / Bangor) ran 24:19.8 for 23rd place.
• Senior Kayla DiBenedetto (Andover, Mass / Andover) debuted in her first 6K and her first XC race since freshman year. She ran a time of 24:47.6 for 32nd place.
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Grad Student Henry Nguyen (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester Vocational Tech) finished first out of the Judges and 30th overall, earning a 12 second 6K PR with his time of 26:28.9.
• Senior captain Lucas Dia (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair) placed 39th with his time of 26:43.7.
• Senior Dashiell Janicki (New York, N.Y. / HS for Math Science and Engineering at City College) ran 27:20.1 for 65th place.
• Junior Dylan Zhao (Staten Island, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) finished in 28:09.6 for 90th place. First-Year Ben Katsev (N. Andover, Mass / N. Andover) closed out the top 5 pack with 99th place and his time of 28:31.6.
