KEENE, NH. – The Brandeis University cross country teams claimed second and third this morning at Keene State College. The women were second to Wellesley by a mere four points, beating out 22 other teams. The men came in third place behind Plymouth State and Assumption.
WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• The women had three runners squeeze in the top 15 of the total 183 women over the five-kilometer course.
• Junior Zada Forde (Amherst, Mass / Amherst) finished in seventh place with a time of 19:13.1, earning herself an outdoor 5k PR and racing 13 seconds faster than last year.
• Sophomore Ella Warkentine (Malvern, Pa. / Conestoga) crushed her first Keene 19:22.5 and finished in 12th place.
• Senior Juliette Intrieri (North Salem, N.Y. / North Salem) came in 15th with a time of 19:31.8 and senior Captain Lizzy Reynolds (Winchester, Mass./ Winchester) was 24th with a time of 19:52.9.
• First-year Sadie Harrow (Bangor, Maine / Bangor) wrapped up the top five next to her with a time of 19:53.5, and earning herself a 25th place finish.
• The Judges' tight spread of 40 seconds among their top five was just behind Wellesley's 35 second spread as the Blue totaled 80 points to the Judges' 83, who were well ahead of hosts and third-place Keene State (110 points).
MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
• Senior captain Willem Goff (Pelham, Mass. / Amherst Regional) finished first for Brandeis and fourteenth overall in his final Keene race, with a time of 26:28.8 over eight kilometers. Junior Henry Nguyen (Worcester, Mass. / Worcester Vocational Tech) followed one place behind at 26:32.2, a 55 second improvement from last year.
• Junior Lucas Dia (Montclair, N.J. / Montclair) joined the pack in 16th place with a time of 26:37.8 for third place.
• Sophomore TJ Carleo (Newburyport, Mass. / Newburyport) finished up the front pack two places behind in 18th place for a time of 26:42.6
• Sophomore Rob King (Clarksville, Md. /River Hill) finished at 27:14.0, giving the Judges a 46-second spread among their top five runners.
• Brandeis finished with 98 points behind winners Plymouth State (59) and Assumption (68).
