WORCESTER, Mass. – The Brandeis University swimming and diving teams traveled to Worcester, Mass., to take on four other schools tonight. The women picked up a win over Smith College, while both the men and women lost to hosts WPI, Coast Guard, and Babson, in head-to-head scoring.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Sophomore Benjamin Lee (Upton, Mass./Nipmuc Regional) led the men's team with a pair of second-place finishes. He swam 1:46.80 in the 200-yard freestyle and 1:59.20 in the 200 individual medley. Lee was just 0.35 seconds out of a win.
- Senior Monica Iizuka (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) paced the women by also finishing in second place twice. In the 100-yard backstroke, she swam 1:01.21, about half a second out of first. She also anchored the second-place 200-yard medley relay that finished with a time of 1:52.22. Also part of that relay were junior Anastasia Bekou (Limassol, Cyprus/Laniteio Lyceum), sophomore Becca Kaplan (Fairfax, Va./Robinson Secondary School) and junior Chloe Gonzalez (Miami Beach, Fla./Miami Beach Senior). Iizuka also finished fourth in the 100 free in 56.83 seconds.
- Sophomore Sam Bundy (Charlotte, N.C./Ardrey Kell) had a second-place finish in the men's 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.58, 0.47 seconds out of first.
- Chloe Gonzalez came in second in the women's 500 free with a time of 5:25.90, about four seconds off the winning pace.
- The Brandeis men were without senior All-American Sam Dienstag (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier), who was out with an illness.
