WALTHAM, Mass. –  Junior Lulu Ohm of the women’s basketball team and senior foil Luke Ritchie of the men’s fencing team field team have been named the Brandeis University Athletes of the Week for the week ending February 11, 2024. The award is presented weekly by the Chateau Restaurant Group.

Ohm, a native of Waltham, Massachusetts,  guided the Brandeis women’s basketball team to a 1-1 week last week. In the Judges’ 72-70 win over Carnegie Mellon last Friday night, she scored 13 points and had a career-high seven assists – including seven points and three assists in the fourth quarter as the Judges overcame a 13-point deficit to earn the win. On Sunday afternoon against Case Western Reserve University, Ohm scored a career-high 18 points with five rebounds and two assists. For the week, she averaged 15.5 points, 5 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, all team-highs.

The Judges return to action this weekend with a trip to the Midwest, facing University Athletic Association foes the University of Chicago on Friday at 6:30 p.m. Eastern (5:30 Central) and Washington University in St. Louis Sunday at 3 p.m. (2 Central).

Ritchie, of Baltimore, Maryland, earns Brandeis Athlete of the Week honors for the second time this season after leading Brandeis to a 2-1 record last Saturday at the Duke University Invitational. He helped the foil squad go 3-0, posting a 6-2 record. Brandeis lost their opening match to Air Force, 15-12, but rallied to upset #9-ranked Duke for the second time this season, 14-13, and Johns Hopkins, the #2 team in Division III fencing, also by a 14-13 score. Ritchie was 2-0 vs the Blue Devils and 2-0 vs the Blue Jays.

Overall this season, Ritchie leads the Brandeis men’s foil squad with a 34-22 record.

The Judges return to action on February 24 when they compete in the NEIFC Championships at MIT.

This is the eighth year that the Brandeis Athlete of the Week program has been presented by The Chateau Restaurant Group. The Athlete of the Year Program highlights a top Brandeis student-athlete who has had an outstanding athletic achievement from the week prior.  Each selected student-athlete will be featured on the Brandeis athletics homepage and inside the Chateau Waltham and Jake N Joes
