Volleyball Splits Homecoming Matches

WALTHAM, Massachusetts — The Brandeis University volleyball team split its Homecoming matches on Saturday to move to 7-10 on the season. The Judges beat Eastern Connecticut State 3-1 in the morning but fell to Salve Regina by the same score in the afternoon.

AGAINST EASTERN CONN. (25-14, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17)

  • The Judges had three players in double-digit kills: sophomores Grace Krumpack (Cincinnati, Ohio/Colerain) and Shea Decker-Jacoby (Los Angeles, Calif./Marymount) had 11 each, while senior Jessica Kaufman (Tucson, Ariz./Cienaga) had 10.

  • Sophomore setter Marlee Nork (Chicago, IL./Walter Payton College Prep) set a career high with 40 assists, obliterating her previous high of 20 set last season.

  • Sophomore libero Yvette Cho (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) had a match-high 20 digs, while Decker-Jacoby added 12 of her own. Cho also matched her career-high with five service aces, which also led the match.

  • The Judges hit .228 for the match as a team (48 K-19E-127 TA).


AGAINST SALVE REGINA (25-20, 20-25, 25-27, 20-25)

  • Brandeis split the first two sets with the Seahawks, winning the first 25-20 and dropping the second by the same score.

  • The Judges battled back in the third set to push it to extra points, but ultimately fell 27-25.

  • Neither team could pull more than two points ahead of the other for much of the set, but Salve Regina was able to pull away after it was knotted up at 17-17.

  • Nork re-set her career high in assists, this time tallying 44 helpers.

  • Decker-Jacoby once again led the team in kills, finishing with a match and career-high 18 kills. Freshman Emma Bartlett (Duxbury, Mass/Duxbury) and Krumpack also had double-digit kills, with a career-high 13 for Barlett and 11 for Krumpack.

  • Krumpack also recorded a match and career-high 20 digs, while Cho added 17 of her own and junior Lia Goldberg (Springfield, N.J./Union County Magnet H.S.) had 11.


  • Brandeis hosts UAA Round Robin #2 next weekend. The Judges will play Rochester and Case Western on Saturday, October 15 and Emory and NYU on Sunday, October 16.
