ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Ed Colvin (Roslindale, Mass./Central Catholic School) earned his first career All-University Athletic Association (UAA) honor in cross country today, finishing in ninth place out of 78 runners to claim second-team honors at the 2012 UAA Championships, held at the University of Rochester.
Colvin, who was the 2010 UAA Rookie of the Year, covered the eight-kilometer course with a time of 25:30.8. He finished just four seconds out of a first-team All-UAA honor. Colvin shaved a full minute and five seconds off his time at the UAA meet in 2011, improving by 12 spots in the standings.
Senior Alex Kramer (No. Andover, Mass./No. Andover) was the second finisher for the Judges with a 33rd-place showing, down 11 places from his junior season, despite trimming a full half-minute off his 2011 pace with a time of 26:10.9.
The next two finishers for Brandeis were sophomores, with Michael Rosenbach (Tampa, Fla./Berkley Prep) improving 20 spots to 46th overall with a time of 26:30.5 and Jarrett Harrigan (Ipswich, Mass./St. Johns Prep) coming in 51st with a time of 26:36.5, moving up 24 places in the final standings. Senior Mik Kern (Groton, N.Y./Groton) rounded out the scorers for the Judges in 69th place with a time of 27:24.6.
Both Brandeis teams finished in eighth place at an ultra-competitive meet that featured six of the eight men's teams and five the eight women's squads among the top 35 programs in Division III. The men's 186 points placed them 30 behind seventh-place Emory, while the women's 193 points trailed Emory by 66 points.
Brandeis's next meet is the NCAA Division III New England regional championship, which will be held Nov. 10 at Westfield State University.
