WALTHAM, Mass. -- A pair of Brandeis seniors will represent the Judges at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field championships this weekend at Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa. On the men's side, Chris Brown of North Chelmsford, Mass., will compete in the mile run, while Kate Warwick of Boxborough, Mass., will be running in the 5,000-meters. Both will be seeded third in their respective events.

Brown will be competing in his fourth career NCAA championship but his first in 2011-12, having reached three-straight Division III Cross Country meets from 2008 through 2010 as part of a Brandeis team entry. Brown's best time of the season, came on Feb. 10 at the Boston University Valentine's Invitational, when he ran 4:05.98. That time was the second-fastest in school history in the mile run and is believed to be one of the 10 fastest in Division III indoor track and field history. Brown also claimed the University Athletic Association title in the event this season. The preliminary heats for the men's mile will be held on Friday, March 9 at 5 p.m. Central/6 Eastern, with the finals Saturday at 3:30 p.m Central/4:30 Eastern.

Warwick is making her second NCAA championship appearance of 2011-12, having qualified as an individual for the 2011 Division III Cross Country meet, where she finished 48th overall, 13 spots and about 12 seconds out of All-America status. Warwick's best time of the season in the 5,000-meters also came at the BU Valentine's Day Invitational, when she ran a time of 17:03.44. The time is the fourth-best of the season in Division III, but one of the competitors ranked ahead of her is unable to compete. Warwick also claimed a UAA title in the 3,000-meter run this season. The women's 5,000-meter run is the final individual event of the meet, taking place at 5:35 p.m. Central/6:35 Eastern.
