Trailing 2-1 after doubles and with the six singles matches evenly split, rain forced the Judges and Beavers indoors, where Brandeis prevailed in 5 of 6 singles matches. Mitch Krems and Michael Secular were double winners.
The Judges nearly rallied from a 4-3 deficit, but the Jumbos prevailed in the final match at No. 5 singles. Senior Steven Milo was Brandeis's only double-winner on the afternoon, finishing the weekend at 3-1 overall.
Number one doubles tandem of Steven Milo and Josh Jordan won a tight match, but the host Panthers took the other eight matches. The Judges drop to 3-4 on the season with all four losses coming to ranked teams.
With the match tied at 3-3, the lower three spots in the lineup each won three-set matches to give the Judges the win over the Brewers. Sophomore Alec Siegel rallied from a set down to clinch the win at No. 6.
The unseeded duo of sophomore Alec Siegel and rookie Mitch Krems had the top showing of the weekend for the Judges, advancing all the way to the finals and taking home UAA Doubles Team of the Week honors.
A pair of Brandeis doubles teams advanced past the first round of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association New England regional today at Williams, each winning in a tiebreaker. Senior Steven Milo also moved on in the singles bracket, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals.
