Men's tennis bows to Tufts, 6-3, in final regular-season match

MEDFORD, Mass. -- The Brandeis men's tennis team dropped its final match of the regular season, 6-3, against Tufts University. The Judges will close out the season this weekend at the University Athletic Association championships in Orlando, Florida.

All three Brandeis points came from the junior class. In doubles action, the No. 2 team of Josh Jordan (Northboro, Mass./Algonquin Regional) and Steven Milo (Woodbury, N.Y./Syosset) took an 8-4 decision. Brandeis had a chance in both first and third doubles, but fell 8-6 at the top spot and 9-7 in a tiebreaker at No. 3.

In singles matches, Milo was victorious at No. 1 in his first solo action since mid March, with a nice rally from a set down to win, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Jordan, back in the No. 2 slot with Milo's return, rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 triumph. The Judges had a chance at No. 5 singles, where senior Ezra Bernstein (Buffalo, N.Y./City Honors School) won the first set, but fell in a third-set super-tiebreaker, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3.

Brandeis enters the UAA Championships with a 4-12 record and the sixth seed. The Judges will take on third-seeded and 17th-ranked Washington University Thursday at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals.
