Michelle Kim was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in November 2016. She has served as the department business manager since July, 1999, and was the head volleyball coach for 10 seasons.
In her role as Associate AD, Kim oversees the areas of fiscal and IT operations for the department. She oversees all institutional reporting for Athletics to the Department of Education and NCAA, and coordinates with Procurement, HR, the Budget Office and Library & Technology Services on campus. She is also business manager for the broader organization of Athletics, Recreation, and Health & Wellness.
Kim was the head coach of the Brandeis volleyball team from 2004-2013, amassing a record of 172-177. She was appointed in the summer of 2004, after spending five seasons as an assistant under Sheryl Sousa. She has led the Judges to five ECAC Tournaments, including back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007 and an appearance in the finals in 2012.
A 1996 graduate of Binghamton University, Kim served as an assistant for two years at Stony Brook University before joining Sousa on the Brandeis staff in 1999. In that time, she helped lead the Judges to a 108-84 record. The squad made four ECAC tournament appearances in that time, including a 27-15 record and a berth in the ECAC finals in 2003, tying the school record for wins in a season.
As a player under Sousa from 1993-96, Kim was a four-year starter and two-year captain. She helped Binghamton to its first-ever conference title and NCAA appearance, reaching the New York Regional semifinals.
